Every six months Charlie Oppenheim of the U.S. Department of State presents to industry leaders estimates for the EB-5 visa backlogs in each country. In April, Mr. Oppenheim predicted an approximate wait time of 8.4 years for Indian nationals applying for EB-5.

However, at the EB-5 Industry Forum event in Seattle, WA on October 29, 2019, Mr. Oppenheim revised his approximate wait time numbers. During his presentation he clarified that his April 2019 predictions were not accurate because he had previously employed the wrong inputs. By fixing this mistake with updated numbers Mr. Oppenheim now more accurately depicts “the absolute worst-case scenario” is 6.7 years for an Indian born national filing an EB-5 application on October 28, 2019.
